St. Sarkis
Armenian Church Choir

Then will I go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy: yes, on the harp will I praise you, O God my God.

For years our modest parish has enjoyed the glory of the Armenian Church sharagans (hymns) through a combination of inspired choir members and talented organists.  Members of the choir and altar servers play a vital role in our worship services. Through their gift for music and deep dedication to their work, they carry forward the beautiful tradition of Armenian spiritual music at St. Sarkis Armenian Orthodox Church, and inspire the congregation toward a greater experience of God’s presence.

It has been a wonderful tradition for St. Sarkis Choir to host an annual celebration of Vartavar (Feast of the Transfiguration) in June/July.  It is a fun gathering for all ages with good food and with the traditional water games and singing. In 2012, the choir undertook the monumental project of replacing the church’s original organ with a new instrument. Now we are proud to celebrate  Divine Liturgy and praise God with new sounds.

The choir members consist of many generations and they enjoy a special bond as we celebrate Divine Liturgy every Sunday at 10:30 am. St. Sarkis Choir always welcomes new members and is glad to guide anyone wishing to learn the beautiful hymns of the Armenian Church.
