The St. Sarkis School (Սուրբ Սարգիս Վարժարան) of Armenian faith, language, culture, and history will be held on Saturday mornings via Zoom from 10:00am - 12:30pm.
The St. Sarkis School is a wonderful opportunity for the children of our community to learn their native language, heritage, culture and faith. The curriculum focuses on teaching the students the Armenian Alphabet, reading, writing, and speaking Armenian. Other areas of study include Armenian history, faith, geography and music.
The St. Sarkis School also guides our children through the history, traditions, and observances of the Armenian Church. Students read the Bible and learn about saints and feasts, church milestones, prayers and participate in worship services. They are encouraged to reflect on how this knowledge enriches their spiritual lives as Christians.
All teachers, assistants and board members are volunteers from the community. We enroll children who are 4 years old by the end of the calendar year. Throughout the course of the school year, we celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter with activities and a luncheon. At the end of the year we always close the year with a Year End program (Hantes). The teachers, students and parents work together to prepare and present an entertaining program that showcases what the students have learned throughout the year.
We encourage all children of our parish to be part of the St. Sarkis School (Սուրբ Սարգիս Վարժարան). Not only are our students exposed to a Christian Armenian environment by taking part in worship, receiving classroom instruction in faith and language, but they are also given the opportunity to socialize, build friendships and hold fellowship with other Armenian children.
This is all great for the kids, but what about the parents? Where should parents be when kids are learning in St. Sarkis School? Find our here.
