The St. Sarkis Armenian Church Saturday School holds its classes every Saturday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. It is a wonderful opportunity for our communities’ children to learn about their heritage and culture.
The curriculum focuses on teaching the students’ the Armenian Alphabet, reading, writing, and speaking Armenian. Other areas of study include Armenian history, religion, geography and music.
All of the schools’ teachers, assistants and board members are volunteers from the community. We enroll children who are 4 years old by the end of the calendar year. Throughout the course of the school year, we celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter with activities and a luncheon. At the end of the year we always close the year off with a year end program (Hantess). The teachers, students and parents work together to prepare and present a program that is both entertaining and showcases what they have learned throughout the year.
We encourage all of our communities’ children to be a part of the Saturday School. Not only are our students’ exposed to an Armenian environment, but they are also given the opportunity to socialize with other Armenian children.
