ArmeniaFest
Celebrating our 16th year!
ArmeniaFest 2011
October 7, 8, and 9, 2011
This weekend, October 7, 8, and 9, the annual Armenian festival will be held on the grounds of the St. Sarkis Armenian Church in Carrollton. This will be the 16th year of the festival which is held to celebrate the vibrant Armenian culture, food, music and dancing with the entire DFW community. Entrance to the festival and parking are free and all are welcome to attend.
The theme of this years’ festival will be Armenian Music, Poetry and Fashion and the Hall adjacent to the Church will include a number of displays and presentations providing a view into the rich heritage of Armenia which, in 301 AD, became the first nation to adopt Christianity as a state religion. The festival will also include numerous other activities and displays including folk dances, live music, grilled food, baked goods, a Church history and tour, children’s games and activities, cooking demonstrations, a silent auction and raffle, and so much more.
The famous Armenian author and Pulitzer prize winner William Saroyan once said, “The role of art is to make a world which can be inhabited.” The music, poetry, stories, dances, and paintings of Armenia, influenced over the past 1700 years, are the resulting art that energizes us all and makes our world a more glorious one.
